FormMailGMT was originally based on Matt Wright's V1.6 FormMail script. Many modifications, bug fixes and updates were culled from the collective efforts of Brian Sietz (BFormMail), Network Now (GMFormMail), Ashley Bass (yform), Donald Killen (xFormMail) and others.

An intensive effort was made to reorganize the code and move away from a coding style reminiscent of cgi-lib.pl which was/is based on Perl version 4.0, an ancient version of Perl. To date, all of the configuration field names have been changed to more logically represent their scope and function. These field names are now fixed. Current efforts are to migrate to the new cgi.pm standard library which will offer more robust, more secure forms handling. The current product is both safe and secure; future updates will include PGP encryption of the mailto messages and more control over default response page handling with support for ecommerce and credit card transactions.
